The Cockapoo

The Cockapoo Dog

The Cockapoo, is a cross (hybrid) of pure Cocker Spaniels and Poodles and are known for their wonderful dispositions, long lives and lower incidence of genetic defects than in the parental breeds.

The Cockapoo is amazingly forgiving of the indiscretions of small children with a keen intelligence any adult can appreciate.

Informally bred for years and is now  recognized as its own breed

Very long lived - 18-22 years

Teacup Toy - under 6 pounds 
Toy - under 12 pounds 
Miniature/Mini - 13 to 18 pounds

Coat

The Cockapoo derives from the Poodle its  non shedding coat which is usually wavy rather than curly. Likewise, there is very little dander, which is the main culprit in allergies to dogs. This makes the Cockapoo the ideal choice for those who have problems with allergies.

Grooming

Thoroughly comb the coat 3 times each week. Professional trimming is needed every 4 to 6 weeks.
